Types of Digital Thermometers
Digital Probe thermometers exist as two main types. There are thermocouple digital thermometers and thermistor digital thermometers. The thermocouple digital thermometer is primarily used as a food gauge. These thermometers are able to provide a reading of temperature between two and five seconds accurately. The thermistor digital thermometers happen to be used with food products as well. They have a semiconductor component to them with a temperature sensitive epoxy. This type of digital thermometer tends to give accurate read outs in about ten seconds.
Thermistor thermometers are designed specifically to check the final cooking temperature of the food and are not meant to be left in the food as it cooks. In conclusion, thermometers of all kinds have been created and provide uses and results for everyone. These uses range from figuring out body temperature, weather, and to making sure that food is cooked to a satisfactory degree. Digital thermometers are proven more effective then glass thermometers or Bimetal coil types because the sensors on the digital thermometers are a bit more sensitive and less fragile, creating the highest quality results in the thermometer world. However, for some uses, such as figuring out weather temperatures, it may be justified to simply try a non-digital thermometer.
